South Brooks is a condominium development on a 7-acre site nestled within the Desa Parkcity Township in Kuala Lumpur. The development comprises a total of 920 units distributed between two 40-storey towers. The towers sit directly on the ground and are served by an independent multi-level podium car park. Pedestrian bridges located on various floors connect the residence tower and car park.

Visitors to the development are greeted by a large span entrance gateway beneath which the security post is located. A gently meandering roadway takes visitors to a drop-off area defined by a gentle circular water fountain. The drop-off area adjoins a grand tall lobby at the base of the towers. The same access road branches out to also take visitors directly to the podium parking block.

The entrance lobby leads visitors to each of the secured tower cores. From there, they are able to access the various floors within the buildings. The ground floor lobby also leads to swathes of tall and generous lounges which interact with the copious landscaped grounds beyond.

Open spaces, greens and water features are designed to blend seamlessly with the building on the ground plane. The landscape design features a unique brook with rocky outcrops and lends the development its name. This generosity of green space is echoed by the extensive variety of wet and dry recreational activities on the facilities deck atop the podium car park. The facilities deck on the podium are a combination of interweaving organic-shaped sunken lounges, a one-of-a-kind curvaceous pool with radial decks, chill-out spaces, a multipurpose hall, a gymnasium, a playground and changing rooms.

Each of the two towers takes a distinct form with three wings sprouting from a central core. These “Y”-shaped floor plans accommodate 12 units on every level. This plan form is surprisingly efficient and presents a rather unique identity to the building aesthetic all at once. The unit designs are configured in such a way that they can be likened to Semi-Ds in the sky. They have good views out on all sides with a predominantly green backdrop of both the private grounds as well as the nearby parks located nearby. Despite being located rather high off the ground, the upper units still manage to feel close to the ground because of this visual connection to the ground. The outstretched nature of each of the three wings of the towers also allows the unit layouts to have generous views.

The architectural treatment is kept to a minimal aesthetic with horizontal bands defining the prevailing language of the building. The corners of each of the three wings are purposefully softened by curving the edges to present a more ‘friendly’ gesture to the neighbouring developments. The buildings are topped off by sky gardens surrounded by a screen that doubles up as the tower crowns as well as a safety barrier for users. These roof gardens provide sweeping views of the surrounding parkland and the KL city skyline. They combine to provide residents with an ideal way to relax and gather with friends and family.
