Pertubuhan Akitek Malaysia (PAM) officially celebrated the pinnacle of architectural achievement at the PAM Awards 2026 and Annual Dinner, hosted at the M Resort Hotel Kuala Lumpur. Minister of Housing and Local Government of Malaysia, YB Tuan Nga Kor Ming, graced the prestigious event, underscoring the government’s recognition of the industry’s important role in national development.
Established in 1990, the PAM Awards constitute the highest honour bestowed upon the Malaysian architectural fraternity. This program recognises the synergy among architects, clients, and contractors who share a commitment to design innovation, execution, and the advancement of the built environment. Highly competitive entries characterised the 2026 iteration of the awards, reflecting both the robust health and maturity of Malaysia’s design landscape:
- 145 Submissions received across the country.
- 12 Strategic Categories, encompassing Single Residential, Multiple Residential (Low Rise), Multiple Residential (High Rise), Education, Industrial, Adaptive Reuse, Interior Design, Commercial (Low Rise), Commercial (High Rise), Commercial Mixed Development, Special Category, and the Sustainable Building Awards (SBA).
- 44 Shortlisted Projects, a selective list that underscores the uncompromising standards maintained by the adjudication panel.
Commended works span a diverse architectural spectrum, ranging from understated, contextually sensitive designs to landmark highrises shaping the urban skyline. Collectively, these entries demonstrate a sophisticated mastery of form, function, and sustainability. In tandem with the celebration of design excellence, the evening marked the official inauguration of the institute’s leadership for the 2026/2027 term. Ar. Dexter Koh assumed office as the incoming PAM President, alongside the newly elected Council Members. This new leadership council is tasked with driving strategic initiatives, encouraging industry resilience, and advancing the global standing of Malaysian architecture PAM conferred ten Fellow Memberships to PAM Members who have held corporate memberships for at least 20 years, are in good standing and have made significant contributions to the profession, industry, or the institute.
