Uno retail development is inspired by upscale shopping mall retail shopfront with a full-height glass curtain wall façade. The idea is to move away from the conventional solid wall, small windows and large, messy signages in typical retail shop lots.
The entire development comprises twenty-four units of single-storey retails with mezzanine floors and full-height glass shop fronts, and seven units of two-storey retails also with a mezzanine floor over the ground floor level.
This development aims to lift the standard of retail into more exclusive and high-end experiences by having a full-height shopfront glass façade with 15 feet-high ceiling space to cater for the mezzanine floor retails.
The glass façade has been designed with various sizes of glass panels and heights to create randomness and hierarchy in the overall façade compositions, a departure from the typical repetitiveness. The idea of line, edge and transparency has been accentuated. The entire length of the 5-foot way is fully shaded with tinted glass canopies to protect pedestrians from rain and sun.The signages will be tastefully designed and positioned to blend with the beautiful façade.
As for the 2-storey retails, the upper storey has been designed with solid curve edge boxes interlocking each other to create a different hierarchy and depth for the façade. The play of curves and straight lines achieves harmony between retro and modern architecture.Different compositions of slot window openings and shades of grey help to further establish the characteristic of the façade.
One of the most important features of the two-storey shop is the creation of an outdoor terrace on the first floor. They appear at the front and rear façade alternately between adjacent units. The space is a social gathering space for office tenants, a coffee break area with a great view into the centre of the Uno commercial plaza.
The Uno retail development has a central plaza in the middle of a single-storey retail shop area.It is a flexible multi-purpose public space where visitors transit between rows of retail blocks where celebrations or large-scale commercial events can take place.
