Layered gateways echoing Vietnamese temple architecture. The tiered roofs with yin-yang tiles and ornamental ridge detailing recall the spiritual geometry of traditional village and temple gates - guiding guests through a culturally symbolic threshold into the heart of the resort

The Welcoming Center of The Resort & SPA Project in Da Nang City stands as a distinguished threshold, harmonising Vietnam’s deep-rooted cultural heritage with the refined sensibilities of modern resort architecture. Designed as more than just an entrance, it is a symbol of hospitality, identity, and transition, inviting guests into a landscape shaped by history, nature, and renewal.

Drawing inspiration from the centuries-old Vietnamese village gate, the Welcoming Center reinterprets this traditional form to create a bold architectural statement. With its sloping tiled roofs, warm, golden-hued façades, and a commanding stone tower, the structure evokes a sense of permanence and tradition while maintaining an atmosphere of elegance and serenity. The grand arched gateway—layered and ornamental—is adorned with intricate cultural motifs, echoing the decorative craftsmanship found in Vietnam’s sacred temples and ancient towns.

The approach to the centre is immersive and memorable. Framed by lush tropical greenery, vibrant bougainvillaea, and reflective water features, the entrance embodies a seamless blend of built form and landscape. The surrounding design is choreographed to create a calming and ceremonial sense of arrival, providing a soft transition from the city’s vibrant pace to the resort’s tranquil embrace.

Designed with inspiration from a heritage journey in Central Vietnam. Nam O village also features architectural impressions of Hue Royal Court, such as ceremonial grounds, stone columns, and arched gateways. Inspired by ancient Vietnamese village gates, the Welcome Center serves as a gateway to the rich history and storied heart of the 700-year-old Nam Ô fishing village

Inside, the architecture continues to reflect the region’s rich identity. Vaulted wooden ceilings, sand-textured walls, and delicately lit stone columns pay homage to the architectural language of Central Vietnam, including historical references to the royal courts of Hue and the poetic street scenes of Hoi An. Traditional Yin-Yang roof tiles (Lưu Ly) are used as both a visual and symbolic feature, representing spiritual balance and grounding the structure in the legacy of Vietnamese design philosophies.

More than a reception hall, the Welcoming Center functions as a storytelling space. Its interior and exterior details are inspired by life along the coastal region, from fishing nets and bamboo boats to local stone and handcrafted woodwork. These motifs are not only decorative; they preserve and reinterpret the soul of Vietnam’s maritime heritage in a sophisticated, contemporary setting. Every detail—from arched niches resembling coconut shells to textured flagstone flooring that mirrors the rugged coastal terrain—is designed to evoke a quiet sense of nostalgia, while still celebrating the resort’s modern comforts.

An observation tower offers panoramic views across the lush resort grounds and the nearby coastline, while the two-layered gate enhances both security and visual depth, reinforcing the feeling of arrival and retreat. Natural ventilation, soft daylight, and an open layout ensure the space feels airy and connected to its surroundings.
